Dr John Radcliffe is thought to have lived near here as a child. John's father was a Govenor of the Wakefield House of Coffection. John like many of Wakefield worthies attended the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School and later attended university in Oxford, studying medicine. He later became physician to Princess Anne of Denmark and later appointed physician to King William and his wife, Queen Mary. | |
